If Dr. Johns has deemed you an appropriate candidate for breast augmentation, the next step is to schedule your surgery and make some important choices about it. Together, you and Dr. Johns will review your options regarding:

• Breast implant type, shape and size
• Incision pattern
• Implant placement

When making his professional recommendations about your breast implants and procedural details, Dr. Johns will take into account factors that are unique to you, such as your body type and your desired surgical outcome. Then, he will suggest the course of treatment that will best meet your needs.

Breast augmentation is performed on an outpatient basis at a local surgery center. Anesthesia will be administered for your comfort, and your vitals will be monitored for your safety.

Dr. Johns will follow the pre-determined surgical plan. He will make the surgical incisions either around the areola, underneath the breast crease or within the armpit. Through the incisions, he will create pockets within the breast tissue and carefully insert the implants. If Dr. Johns is using saline implants, he will first insert the empty shells and then slowly fill the implants with the saline solution to the desired capacity. Silicone implants come pre-filled. When he’s finished placing the implants, he will close the incisions with sutures, apply surgical dressings and place a support bra around the breasts.
